001 - Hello World + My YouTube Watchlist

first post, first tab reveal.

Hello world! Buckle your seatbelts, friends, because you’re about to step into one of my many open tabs. This blog is where I spill all the random, quirky, and occasionally useful thoughts that occupy my tabs and my brain. No guarantees you’ll leave this post feeling productive, but hey, maybe you’ll find a new rabbit hole to dive into. 😂

What’s on My Mind Right Now?

Today, I’m sharing a peek into my current YouTube watchlist. These videos have been fueling my need to kill time, play something in the background, or actually learn something (shocking, I know). Here’s what’s been keeping my browser tabs open:

1. League Streamers

If you’re a League player and don’t already know Brian aka Pianta, stop what you’re doing. His content is a mix of wholesome memes and genuinely educational gameplay. Lately, I’ve been glued to his current Yasuo climb challenge. Oh, and his Teemo gameplay? 🤌🏼

Then there’s Los Ratones, a chaotic League squad featuring pro players and streamers. The squad includes Baus, who’s basically a walking meme with his infamous "Bausen Law" so much so Riot themselves has recently nerfed this exploit.

Every plate is a kill and every turret two kills.

"So I'm 2/4.. But i took four plates, plus the turret.. So, according to Bausen's Law, I'm actually 8/4 would you look at that"

Pure entertainment, their games and team dynamics are absolutely hilarious. If you’re new to their content, start with their 20-minute highlight video of their first tournament/scrims here - it includes Baus inting instead of ending the game, causing Caedrel (team owner and caster) to absolutely lose it.

Oh, and did I mention they’re playing against T1 (yes, as in Faker) in a week? I can’t decide if this is going to be a glorious victory or the most entertaining disaster in League history. Either way, I’m here for it.

2. Documentary, History & Learning Videos

  • Johnny Harris — The gold standard of documentary storytelling. His deep dives into geopolitics, history, and cultural phenomena are binge-worthy.

  • Honeypot’s Tech/Code History Series — If you’re even remotely into tech, this channel is a rabbit hole you’ll never want to leave. Their videos on the history of programming languages and groundbreaking tech moments are A+.

  • Lenny’s Podcast — For all the product managers and tech folks out there, this is your go-to. I’ve been devouring episodes that dive into everything from building great teams to creating user-centric products. P.s. Lenny’s newsletter and a couple of family/friends are what inspired me to write too!

3. ♟️ GothamChess

GothamChess is my go to for chess entertainment. His recaps of the current World Chess Championship between Ding and Gukesh are the perfect balance of strategy and drama. Lowkey bummed I’m not in Singapore right now to experience these players live.

His "Guess the Elo" series are worth watching too. Watching him analyze games from players of wildly different skill levels is both hilarious and humbling. Spoiler: He roasts everyone equally.

These are on my tabs right now. Stay tuned for more chaotic updates, random musings, and deep dives into whatever’s caught my attention next. (Spoiler: It’ll probably be just as random as this list.)

See yas in the next tab,
Joel
